We are currently exploring a series of talks and practices offered on the 10% Happier App by Oren Jay Sofer.
Oren, in discussions with Dan Harris, explains his version of the ABCs of Emotion.
A = Awareness, this is the foundation of mindfulness.
B = Balance, as in, what is our relationship to an emotion? Aversion? Attachment? Avoidance? Immersion?
C = Curiosity and Care, specific qualities of specific relationships with an emotion.
Finally, S = Support, who doesn't need and benefit from support?
These short recorded talks are followed by an associated period of guided practice. Prompted by the audio and guided meditations, we have been enjoying thoughtful discussion around emotion and how the practice of mindfulness meditation can benefit.
