08/17/2014 We had a record number of meditators on this night. It was auspicious because the guided meditation on loving-kindness by Sharon Salzberg invited us to image ourselves seated inside a circle of beings who were sending us love and positive energy! Here at the MMC we have been talking about the four skill-based components of well-being that are supported by research.
These are Resilience, Positive Outlook, Mindful Attention, and Generosity.
Each week we have been taking a deeper dive into an individual component.
“Well-being is fundamentally no different than learning to play the cello.”
This is the conclusion that neuroscientist Richard Davidson at the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his colleagues have come to.
Basically: You can get better at well-being. It’s a skill you can train for!
